Over the past few weeks I struggled with keeping my mind focused and often had moments of frustration and doubt. However, Sabrina has encouraged me every step, giving me extra pushes when I am not pushing myself hard enough but also rewarding me for milestones she knows are big for me. About 10 years ago I tore the ligaments in my right knee and suffered a partial sublaxation while on a trampoline. It took forever to heal and has since been weak and vulnerable to impact and sudden movements. I dislocated my knee again 2 years ago while doing walking lunges with weights and it took 6 weeks to fully heal. Needless to say I am always worried that it will happen again and this makes my mind mess with me, often telling me I won’t be able to do it or I will injure myself again.
These past few weeks of training with Sabrina and my teammates I have gradually overcome this fear and know to put safety first all while pushing myself to the best of my abilities. I was surprised and encouraged to see how far I had come in my training, doing more pull ups than I thought I would and doing tire flips with relative ease. My goal before the big day is to gain more strength and concentration with my box jumps as this is the event that messes with my mind the most ,but I WILL complete all 50 box jumps in less than 3 mins. I am looking forward to the big day with nervous excitement and look forward to encouraging my teammates in each event and surprising myself with what I’ll be able to do!
