I started Sabrina’s bootcamp back in January 2011 with the New Year’s resolution to get fit. I unfortunately let many obstacles get in my way (events, pregnancies, car accidents, sick children). I signed up for classes and then didn’t complete them or made excuses not to go. I really didn’t want to workout, I guess I thought that deep down someone else should undo what I spent 28 years of my life creating. Like it was someone else needed to melt the unwanted fat.
With the help of both Sabrina and Shawn Wiesner (http://www.successcoachinstitute.com/ShawnWiesner.html) I was able to see that every obstacle was just another excuse for me to quit. I wasn’t ready to change my life. I needed to change my response to life events to create my own outcome. I now am proud to say that I take 100% responsibility for everything that has happened and will happen to me. I am the reason that I am overweight, I appreciate Sabrina for pushing to help undo what I have done. No one else can make me fit but me.
I started my journey at 6:00am November 2nd. I woke up and was done with my past, I didn’t like not fitting into my clothes and watching the “good clothes that don’t fit” bin grow in size. I didn’t like that I wore yoga pants every day. November 2nd started with me not feeling upset for the first time in a long time - I was happy to embrace my journey and excited to see what I could accomplish. I started with a good old fashion cleanse of my body – cut out all the bad food and ate very “clean” to rid my body of the toxins (I modified the South Beach Diet phase 1 for 8 days). I am now very conscious of what I put into my body but still allow myself the occasional treat.
I am very grateful for the support and words of the women in Sabrina’s class. When I feel like I am alone, I rely on the blog posts and Facebook group comments to get me through the day (everyone must read the Balance post by Lisa Bonthoux). I now look forward to drinking spinach filled green smoothies (and so does my entire family!), I enjoy challenging myself to create healthy tasty meals, I look forward to working out and am upset that I miss classes due to sickness. I make time to work out 5 days a week for a total of 3.5 hours (2 at the Fit by Design class and 3 half hour segments in my living room).
For those of you that don’t think you have time, think again – think about that half hour when your kids first wake up – grab them a banana and some milk and let them watch you, or better yet participate with you throughout the 30 day shred dvd. I’ve learned that my kids love to exercise too so we do it together.
I am proud to say that 26 days into my journey I am down 15 pounds. I have many MANY pounds to go but I know that this is just the beginning for me. As long as I have the support of other peers in the group and Sabrina by my side pushing and keeping me accountable I will make it. My goal for December 31st is to be down 25 pounds from my original weight – I know I can do it so it will happen.
Thank you Sabrina for giving us this excellent resource. You’re changing lives and making such a positive impact on this community.
