What I loved most about training was that it was fun, set in a positive environment, and everyone was so encouraging that it made it possible to believe in myself and my abilities. I overcame mental and physical challenges that I was not sure possible at the beginning. My deepest fear was the box jumps and countless times I would bring a box jump home to practice, only to false-start each time for fear of tripping up it or over it. But it seemed that when I was with the others, I could do it, as if their encouragement lifted me up onto the platform each time. What a great feeling!
The growth and transformation of some of the other women was also truly amazing and awe-inspiring and each one of their accomplishments felt like it was my own because I had seen them struggle with their inner fears as well. On the day of the competition I might not even have recognized them as the same group that first started. Gone was their hesitancy, and in its place was a sense of determination. This made my heart swell with pride for all of us!
The two highlights I loved most about the day are doing the box jumps in under 3:00 (finally!) and watching my teammates cheer not only each other on, but show remarkable sportsmanship and cheer on other participants as well. This, to me, was the essence of being on a team-camaraderie, support, laughter, and knowing that someone has got your back. It was definitely an experience of a lifetime!
A huge thank you to my teammates who supported and encouraged me through it all and to Sabrina for all your enthusiasm, knowledge, and belief in all of us that we are capable of so much more than we ever thought we could do. Being part of a Fit by Design team was an absolute honour.
