I played team sports when I was younger and I always loved that feeling of camaraderie and support that comes with being on a team.
However, as the years passed, life got busier and staying active became more difficult. I tried doing the usual route of going to the gym, but I didn’t like the mundane routine I felt when going and the competition I sometimes felt with the other members. (This is likely because I am a competitive person and always felt I didn’t measure up!)
When I joined Sabrina’s class in September 2011, I had been dealing with some pain issues, had gained weight from having kids, and was worried about the word ”Bootcamp.” However, going to classes felt like a homecoming. It felt like I had finally found the missing part to my “being active” puzzle. Everyone was so supportive and non-judgmental and the competitive aspect was more of a “me against myself” and what I could achieve. Sabrina always changes it up which is key for me as I hate getting bored. She also makes it fun and I know I can relax and just go with it...I’ve learned that laughing at myself is a good thing!
Another aspect I love about the Mommy’s Wellness is that Sabrina focuses on the whole aspect of being healthy, not just how many pounds or inches are being lost, but our mental well-being, how we can make everyday changes in our eating habits, and how to pick ourselves up when we “fall off the wagon.” She also inspires us to make changes for our entire families so that we can lead more balanced lives. Thanks to her and the other fabulous ladies who are part of the group, I have more ideas for meal plans, healthier meal and snack alternatives, and have a support network behind me.
There just aren’t enough words to describe how much Sabrina’s classes have changed my life. All I can say is you have to try it for yourself to truly understand.
