i felt AMAZING!
A few days prior to starting the plan Sabrina and I hit the grocery store and got everything on the grocery list. We laughed as we had trouble finding some of the items like collard greens and fennel. The day before we started we got together with another friend who was joining us in the challenge and we prepped our chicken, quinoa and the smoothie packs. We also made up a couple different types of dressings that we would use over the next few days. It took us just over an hour to do all that.
The first week was awesome I loved knowing exactly what I was going to be eating for all my meals during the day and trying the new foods was actually really fun. I also found that I was enjoying cooking which is pretty big for me as I'm not much of a cook. Most of the time I would make my three boys a separate meal but I would get them to try what I was eating and usually I got a thumbs up.
For week two Sabrina and I went shopping again and got all our groceries we also spent a little bit of time doing some prep work. I knew this week would be harder for me as I was having to go out of town for a hockey tournament. Because I had made the commitment to complete the challenge I didn't want to blow it by eating out at restaurants over the weekend besides I was already starting to feel pretty good and had already seen a 5 pound loss on the scale. The day before we left to go out of town I prepped a bunch of foods from the same menu that we had been eating. I took things with me like chicken and quinoa and lots of veggies that I could just reheat in the microwave in our hotel room. I also took enough stuff so I could make overnight oatmeal for two mornings as I knew we would be up early to get to the hockey games and I didn't want to be hitting the drive-thru. This was the first time in a long time that I felt in control of what I was putting into my body. The weekend was great andI didn't give in to any of the temptations that were around me.
I lost just over 9 pounds but better yet I was not having any pain in my knees and wrists that I had been experiencing in the weeks prior to taking the challenge. I'm also feeling very in control of my nutrition and the sugar cravings that I was dealing with daily prior to the challenge were no longer. I feel fabulous going into my holiday knowing that I have the willpower and the control in making healthy choices that will not derail all of the efforts I just made it. Another bonus to doing this plan was I realized I really don't hate cooking as much as I thought I did, it was so easy knowing exactly what I was making, knowing that I have the groceries in the house and knowing that the food was healthy and nourishing for my body. I felt amazing!
I've decided that I will do this challenge again in January but I will make small changes so that my family will also benefit from the healthy, clean foods. I highly recommend trying this challenge. If you follow it you will see great results while eating delicious meals.
