Exercising together with other parents and kids was new for us, and like any new experience, it took some time. The first week I barely broke a sweat thanks to the girls, and by the last week I was wrestling the medicine balls from them. They developed the comfort to run along beside me rather than crying for me to come back, and I developed the confidence to take off running and know that they’d either toddle along or stay behind and wait for me to return. During the first week I brought toys and snacks to entertain them, and in later weeks I left my bag of distractions at home (!) knowing that Claire and Olivia would just hang out beside (or on or under) me anyway.
Quite a transformation, Oli and Claire! Thank you for giving me the gift of a couple hours a week to start getting back to my strong self- I’ve missed it! Thank you to other moms for your good humour and encouragement. And thank you, Sabrina, for giving us a place to come play and be active as a family. We’re looking forward to what’s to come this Fall!
